Holistic Psychotherapy
What is holistic psychotherapy?
The goal of holistic psychotherapy is to engage a person's mind, body and spirit as a unified whole. Anytime there is a disconnect in any of the areas of mind, body or spirit, the quality and flow of one's life force can be severely diminished. This vital life force is called "qi" (pronounced "chi"), by ancient Eastern cultures. This life force has the potential to instill creativity, passion, focus, confidence and energy into one's life. It also has the potential to affect our well-being, our feelings about ourselves and others, and our ability to affect change in our lives.
Thus, holistic psychotherapy creates an approach that works with the client's whole being. All three areas of the mind, body and spirit are attended to so that a person gains a greater connection with themselves, their relationships and their world through their life force. This connection to life force means more energy, passion and confidence in life.
What are the different holistic therapies?
Your life force connects your mind, body, and your spirit. Holistic psychotherapy utilizes three different therapies to tap into these parts of you.
The first is traditional psychotherapy, which relates to the mind. Traditional psychotherapy often answers the question: What are my negative patterns and why do I continue to act them out? Psychotherapy creates a safe place to verbally explore past traumas, painful memories and relationship issues in order to gain insight.
The second therapy is called somatic therapy. “Soma” refers to “body,” and somatic therapy creates a dialogue with information stored in the body. Somatic therapy gently unwinds any trauma in the body tissue and in doing so, encourages the client to become more fully embodied within themselves.
The third therapy is called “energy therapy.” Energy therapy works in the energetic field within and around the client. Like the body and the mind, the energetic field can contain past trauma. This field also contains a reservoir of spiritual knowledge. Once a client is linked to their energetic field, the way a client experiences their body, their energy, and the world can drastically change.
Holistic psychotherapy connects you to your life force and the ancient wisdom stored deep within your mind, body, and energy field. By connecting with yourself in all of these areas, you can create abundant possibility, passion, energy, and trust in your own way of being in the world. You become the person you were born to be and live the life you were born to live.
